## RFQ 1 — Lumber yard (walnut S4S)

**Subject:** Quote request — Black walnut S4S blanks for instrument build

Hello,

I'm Tony Koop, an instrument maker working out of Maker Nexus in the South Bay. I'm building a set of four Native American style flutes and I need black walnut blanks, S4S, in the dimensions below. Quality requirements are unusual for this size: I need long-grain runout under 1:12 along the long axis, and minimal end-checking.

| Qty | Dimensions | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 1.5 × 1.5 × 26 in | For F-key range flutes |
| 2 | 1.75 × 1.75 × 32 in | For lower-key flutes |
| 1 | 1.75 × 1.75 × 18 in | Drone block stock |

- Acceptable substitutions: rough-sawn at +0.10" oversize on each face is fine; I'll mill myself.
- Critical: straight grain along the LONG axis. End-grain runout > 1:12 = reject.
- Please include unit price, current stock level, lead time, and shipping to 95014.
- Quote good for 30 days appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony Koop

## RFQ 2 — Bell Forest Products (hard maple inlay stock)

**Subject:** Quote request — Hard maple thin stock for CNC inlay

Hello Bell Forest team,

I'm Tony Koop, building a set of drone flutes with CNC inlay panels in hard maple. I'm looking for two thicknesses of hard maple suitable for inlay work. Quilted or curly figure preferred for the feature panel; standard hard maple OK for the bands.

| Qty | Dimensions | Use | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 1/16 × 2 × 24 in | Inlay band stock | Plain hard maple OK |
| 1 | 1/8 × 4 × 12 in | Feature panel | Quilted/curly preferred |

- Resaw is acceptable if 1/16" off-the-shelf is unavailable. I can pay a small surcharge.
- Critical: clean, dry stock at 6–8 % MC. No surface checking.
- Please include unit price, available figure grades for the feature panel piece, lead time, and shipping to 95014.

Thanks,
Tony Koop

## RFQ 3 — IDC Woodcraft (CNC router bits)

**Subject:** Quote — CNC bits for instrument-making project

Hi IDC,

Building a set of drone flutes; the bit list below covers four flutes worth of CNC operations on a ShopBot at Maker Nexus. Looking for production-grade carbide spirals.

| Qty | Bit | Spec |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1/16 upcut spiral | 1/8 shank, 1/2 LOC, solid carbide |
| 1 | 1/4 downcut spiral | 1/4 shank, 1 LOC, solid carbide |
| 1 | 1/2 downcut spiral | 1/2 shank, 1.25 LOC, solid carbide |
| 1 | 3/4 ball end | 1/2 shank, 1.5 LOC, solid carbide |

- Walnut + hard maple, both at typical hardness. No abrasive composites.
