# Supplier RFQ - Handpan Root-Mode Prototype

Hello,

I am preparing a first controlled D Kurd handpan prototype and need quote/support information for thin formed steel shells and related processing. This is a musical instrument tuning project, so dimensional consistency, material traceability, and low distortion matter more than lowest cost.

## Requested Quote

Please quote:

- One matched pair of handpan shells, nominal 21 in / 53 cm diameter.
- Sheet thickness: 1.0 mm preferred; please state actual tolerance.
- Material options: DC04 low-carbon steel suitable for nitriding, or 430/301 stainless if that is your standard handpan shell material.
- Top shell: uncut, suitable for Ding plus eight tone fields.
- Bottom shell: either uncut or with a centered 3.5 in Gu port; please specify port edge finish options.
- Rim condition: trimmed and matchable for adhesive closure.
- Any available nitriding, heat-treatment, or stabilization process details.

## Information Requested

Please include:

- Unit price and any volume breaks for 1, 2, and 5 shell pairs.
- Lead time and shipping estimate to the United States.
- Material certificate or material description.
- Thickness tolerance and typical thickness variation after forming.
- Expected diameter, height, rim flange, and roundness tolerances.
- Whether shells are supplied raw, nitrided, stainless, or otherwise treated.
- Known compatibility with handpan tuning and common adhesives.
- Photos or drawing/spec sheet for the shell geometry.
- Recommended handling, storage, and corrosion protection.

Substitutions are acceptable if you explain the material/process difference and any expected tuning impact. Please also note any distortion risk from heat treatment after forming.

Thank you.
