# Hulusi Visual BOM Brief

## Goal

One-page visual BOM showing the gourd wind chest, three pipes, three brass reed assemblies, mouthpiece, and the wax/rosin sealant — recruiter-facing artifact that makes the parametric build legible at a glance.

## Layout

- **Header**: "Hulusi (葫芦丝) — Wooden Cucurbit Free-Reed Flute Family"
- **Hero image**: F-key (HUL-P2) full instrument render OR finished prototype photo
- **Family strip**: B♭ / C / D / F / G silhouettes with target tonic labels (driven by `Family` sheet)
- **Exploded view**: gourd halves split, three pipes pulled out, reed assembly enlarged ×4, mouthpiece detached
- **Reed inset**: brass tongue + frame plate + slot detail with cantilever-formula callout
- **BOM table**: HUL-BOM-001 through HUL-BOM-015 with image thumbnails
- **Physics inset**: stopped-pipe formula `f = c/(4·L_eff)` and free-reed formula `f = K·t/L²`
- **Measurement inset**: tonic Hz, drone offsets, reed pull-down target, tube total cut lengths

## Image Requirements

Use shop photos as soon as available:

- Pakkawood tube blanks pre-bore.
- ShopBot bore in progress.
- Walnut gourd halves on the lathe.
- Brass shim sheet on Epilog laser bed.
- Reed tongue + frame plate + completed reed assembly close-up.
- Beeswax + rosin double-boiler.
- F-key full instrument hero shot (replaces concept render).
- Close-up of waxable drone 2 with player's fingernail.

Concept renders or CAD images should be marked as placeholders until shop photos exist.

## Cultural Footer

A small caption on the visual BOM should read:

> The hulusi (葫芦丝) belongs to the Dai people of Yunnan. This build uses lathe-turned hardwood in place of the traditional dried bottle gourd for repeatability, but the lineage and naming are credited.
