# Kora-Inspired Prototype Print Packet

## Cover

Root-mode v4.3 build packet for a 21-string kora-inspired hybrid prototype. Status: private review. Source workbook: `kora-design-table.xlsx`.

## Quick Start

1. Read `design.md` and `risks.md`.
2. Confirm workbook cell meanings before cutting material.
3. Revise string schedule before full-tension stringing.
4. Build the low-tension mule path first.
5. Keep cultural/provenance language under review before public release.

## Design Summary

The workbook indicates a 20.3 in diameter, 9.8 in deep segmented bowl, a 51.2 in neck, string lengths from 8.7 to 31.1 in, and a 21-string Mersenne-Taylor schedule. The design uses a segmented wood bowl as a practical prototype substitute for calabash and treats the bridge/head response empirically.

## Public-Safety Notes

The current string model has high percent-break values for the treble strings. Do not string to full pitch until revised with real string data. Proof-load the neck and tail anchor. Shield the bridge/string plane during pull-up.

## Cultural Notes

This packet should describe the project as kora-inspired and prototype-focused. It should not claim traditional authority or authenticity. Cultural review is required before publication.

## File Map

See `README.md` for the full artifact map. Shop-critical files are `design.md`, `bom.csv`, `sourcing.csv`, `cut-list.csv`, `validation.csv`, `assembly-manual.md`, `drawing-brief.md`, and `risks.md`.

## Shop Hold Points

- workbook traceability
- string percent-break check
- miter sled dry-fit
- rim/head sample test
- neck/tail proof load
- bridge/head staged pressure test
- partial low-tension stringing
- ergonomic hand-post mockup

## CSV Attachments

Print `bom.csv`, `sourcing.csv`, `cut-list.csv`, and `validation.csv` as separate table pages for shop use. Keep measured values and notes on the printed validation sheet, then update the source CSV.

## RFQ

Use `supplier-rfq.md` for hardwood, head material, string, metal hardware, and electronics supplier conversations. Do not treat planning estimates as current prices.

## Drawing Attachments

The drawings currently in `drawings/` are schematic placeholders. They are useful for review but not CNC-ready.

## Release Decision

Recommendation: keep private pending cultural and safety review.
