# Wooden Hang Drawing Brief

## Required Views

- Top layout view with center ding, outer note positions, radial datum, note labels, and hand-spacing arcs.
- Center section showing top plate, cavity depth, rim structure, lower bowl, and gu/port geometry.
- Tone-field detail showing local thickness, underside relief, optional slot geometry, strike zone, and grain direction.
- Bottom view showing gu diameter, support-feet zones, and cradle contact zones.
- Fixture view for removable-top test rig and datum-hole placement.

## Critical Dimensions

| Dimension | Why It Matters |
| --- | --- |
| Outer diameter | Player ergonomics, stock sizing, and case fit |
| Playing-surface diameter | Real hand reach and note spacing |
| Top-plate thickness | Primary acoustic lever |
| Note-field major/minor axes | Primary pitch lever |
| Relief depth and slot width | Field isolation and tuning leverage |
| Cavity depth and volume | Body resonance and bloom |
| Gu diameter and wall thickness | Port resonance and structural integrity |
| Rim width and fastener setback | Buzz control and serviceability |
| Grain direction | Acoustic repeatability and crack avoidance |

## CAD Notes

- Mark every dimension as `assumption`, `derived estimate`, or measured once data exists.
- Use fired/finished language from `ceramic-hang` as a formatting reference, but convert all process notes to wood/CNC reality.
- Separate concept imagery from dimensioned manufacturing drawings.
- Preserve named parameters for note-zone sizes, relief geometry, bowl depth, and port options.
- The primary CAD path is a replaceable-top hybrid, with alternate notes for split-shell and stave variants.
